_____I'm really, quite bored at the moment and decided I would go make a post, not knowing what the post would be about. So, after clicking the "New Post" button I decided to write a post...not knowing what it would be about. Just...let my mind wander into different thoughts as I speak.

______You know...all the posts on Xgen are about one thing and people are forced to stay on topic. Which is why I made that other thread. It prospered well for a day...then got lost in the new posts. This is rather suprising however, since there aren't really THAT many new posts on xgen for how big of a community it is. There were times when there would be 100 people on and you would never run out of places to post. Now, rather, there are a good number of posting members on, but they never bother to post. I know that people hate it when others talk about the "Golden Age" but really, where would we be if people didn't speak of times long ago. We would have no history books or memories to look back on. It would just be FUTURE, FUTURE, FUTURE! If we keep talking about the Golden Ages or other times, then some day (if Xgen is still around) then people will look back on it and think of how the community evolved.

_____It really puts into perspective of how small a piece you are of the whole picture. Thousands of people go to Xgen a day...you are one of the few that actually posts. New people come and aspire to be like you. "Whoa! He has alot of posts!" Things like that. Most of you guys, represent what Xgen has to offer. All of you guys who have been here for a year...2 years...maybe even 6 months. You stay because you like it and it shows...even if we complain all the time, we never leave. I myself have been banned many times, yet still come back for more.

_____I suppose it's friendship that keeps us here. We are all friends and we enjoy seeing the other members post. If you don't believe me, take a look around. When a member returns from a long absence and randomly posts, someone will go "You! Hey! It's been forever! Glad to see your back :)" Or, for example, when I said I would be banned for the rest of the summer. People showed their emotion. We are all close to each other, and we just can't leave. We are all different ages and from different places...but the internet brings us together.

_____The internet is like that. You can look at someone's blog who lives in France or chat with someone in Asia without going anywhere. It opens opportunities. If you feel up to it, you can learn how people live in other places just by talking to Swas, Woolfy, or Denacioust.

_____I doubt anyone is still reading to this point. There are people like Sperry who are the kind that will read the whole post. (Hey, Sperry!) Some, like myself, tend to avoid the really long posts unless it is something of interest. I can't say that many people can call this anything interesting unless they read the whole thing. They probably read the first line and say something like "Aww...it's probably stupid stuff about random things that no one cares about" but then again, that's reputation for ya.

_____I doubt anyone thinks of me as the person who posts long, meaningful posts. But, they are right, I don't. But people rely too much on reputation. I even did it. Bodadem apologized and...I couldnt believe it. But, people change. Things show in them that never showed before. It always happens. Reputations lead to stereotypes also. Someone had a bad experience with a cheerleader once and might now think Kerry acts the same way. Which...might be true :p (Only kidding).

Interesting post, I agree with the fact that the "golden ages" are going to be a small part of the xgen forum history that people will one day think of as the stone ages as the people from that time disappear.

I also agree with the point about how people can change, people also don't have to show their entire personality on a forum, they can choose what to show and what to hide.

Everybody begins somewhere, for many people this was their first forum that they registered at. Others have experiance and avoid the habits of the newbs and n00bs. Even more people however lurk around the forum before they join to see whether they like the community or not.

Reputation can affect what people will think of you when you post, if you have a respected, intelligent reputation, people who've been here for a while won't think much less of you if you make Joke topics talking like a n00b since they know how you normally type. Newbies however must learn about the reputations of older members before they judge too.

I read long, undivided posts fast if I use the highlight tool to keep my place.

I'm mean to n00bs because the first forum I was at (GameFAQs) had speedy moderation. Plus after reading topics where about 10 people tell newbies to not do something if it's breaking a rule. Anyways, people should read the rules on a forum before they begin posting, but sometimes the rules take a long time to go through and people become impatient.

You should make good use of the enter button to seperate ideas EMC, but I guess the point was to see who'll actually read the whole message.

Hi. My name is Garrett James Arnold. I live in London, Ontario, Canada, which is also the city I was born in.

From the age of 4, to the age of 15 (my first ten years of schooling; Junior Kindergarten, Senior Kindergarten, and Grades 1 - 8) I attended the same school, which goes by the name of Riverside Public School. Starting this past school year, I began attending my secondary/ 'high' school, which goes by the name of Oakridge Secondary School.

My plans are to stay at Oakridge for the remainder of my high school career, at which point I plan to move on to university or college, and eventually persue a career in either the sciences (broad subject, I know..) or something having to do with computers/technology (Yeah, I like to keep my options open.. ).

The only pets I've even owned have been fish, although I've dearly wanted some sort of 'real' pet, namely a dog, or a cat.

I got my first real job this summer, doing assorted computer-based work for the publishing portion of a 'Sylvan Learning Centers' type place (It's called Oxford Learning Centers).

I work full time, 9-5, mon-fri, except for this week, which I took off, as my boss realized that it was hard on me to go from being used to a summer full of slacking to a full-time job.

I feel it's only fair that you know about my depression. I have frequent lapses into heavy depression, during which I may constantly express I wish I was dead, 'What is the point of it all?!?!' type points, and 'Screw you, I'm gunna go kill myself right now, ****er!' periods. Although these have lately been lessoning, possibly due to me having something to do to keep my mind off them, possibly just because I'm maturing -- Nah, that can't be it.

I've never been in a serious relationship with anyone before, by which I mean 'dating'. I'm unsure as to why I've never had the inkling to ask a girl out, although one probably reason is that I'd surely be rejected.

Wow.... Look how this page has grown, and yes I did read your really long fatty post :D.... Yeah it's real interesting how much people flame just because we refer to teh Golden Ages, and how that making Ages is a stupid idea and such, and how like, people in general will flame you if you try to make some sense into these forums, and how they say that they are just forums, and how it won't really matter in the end, but if it doesn't matter to them, why are they affected when someone posts something really good or terrible? I mean if we shouldn't really care about this forum, because it's "just a forum", like they usually say.... And yeah there are alot of users online that don't post anything like the Golden Ages, where people posted so frequently, that evertime you posted something new and refreshed it a couple of seconds later, there's another post waiting for you...

Plus the fact that there were much less people on in the Golden Ages than there are today..... And right now I am doing just what you did EMC, I'm posting my thoughts right now into this post, which people should really do often, because if we really hide ourselves in lies that we should say to not get flamed then what good are we?

Oh and about that.... What I posted about Brett was wrong, and I believe that if he really wanted to join these forums, that he should make another account, post regularly and then he can give himself away, and if we like how he is behaving, we don't ban him..... When I had posted that comment of making it a living hell if he joined again, I had the fear that people would lose their trust in me, but now I have really made Brett seem as if he were really terrible, and I feel really guilty about what I had said about him, and I doubt that he'll ever forgive me about it, and the truth is, I don't think that he really is a bad guy.... What if he had this mental disorder that caused him not to think, and it made his impulses to post bad things in these forums where he wasn't really thinking and at first he thought is was funny, and then when he comes back to his senses that he truely feels guilty about what he had just posted, previously when his mental disorder had just kicked in, and let me tell you, Brett is a really down to earth person in AIM, and you must be thinking "Yeah maybe on AIM but he sure is a butthole here." Well..... People change sometimes, and if he does mass spam again, it's no huge major danger too our lives, just some disturbing pictures that can be deleted, and delete his posts, and then calm the people down, and everything is fine again after time.....

It isn't as if anyone were to die by seeing pictures, and even Brett himself says that those pictures that he posted were gross, and that he posted them just because he was mad at some people, and he didn't know how to control himself.... So I feel terrible for saying that he would be an extreme danger to the forums and that I compared him to Saddam Huessien, because Brett hasn't killed innocent people, and he hasn't injured anyone, or bombed anything in his life, but just to spam things, which happen less seldom than a nasty pornography pop up in google.....

So there is no real danger if he comes back without permission, posts som quality posts without revieling himself, and when he does, that we accept him if he truely wants to come back to xgen..... And yes this is what I am thinking about right now....... >_> And sorry for all of you guys that are a bit shocked by what I am saying right now, and it has taken me a while to say what I think is right, and sure I believe that he did wrong things, but secnod chances come to different situations, and even sixth or seventh chances can be used to some extents... The "Golden Ages" werent exactly intresting for me, i was a n00b, i read my old messages in the Flash Dev. Forum and wondered how people put up with me, i was so annoying (only a little more annoying than i am now :P).

I dont see what the problem is of showing a picture of yourself, its not like theyre going to be able to find you.

My thoughts: I dont post in enough parts of the forum to have a real opinion on anything, but i reckon the creation of spammerland is the reason this forum has become a little more boring with less posts, Which leads me to a different point, the reason people post in spammer land. Why do people post there? i mean some topics (although seemingly pointless) have relevance to be there, like counting to a million, i was actually amazed at the amount of posts there, but its when you get topics that say, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, i reached 1,000 YEYZ00RS, B,B,B, look im doing an immitation of the strawberry clock, b ,b. It becomes annoying, why do people feel they need to waste time doing that, have they nothing better to do with their time? im guessing the obvious answer is no.

I would like to comment on Bodadem's new found good behaviour, i saw your apology thread, and thought perhaps there was twisted logic, maybe you were doing another parody so i ignored it. But coming here today and reading your posts (mainly in the flash dev. forum) i was impressed, your advise was; uncritcizing and helpful, ill admit i didnt like you when you used to post things like "No-one likes you, die" but i hope i can gain back the respect i had for you.

My final point, The stress on the Mod's, running a fairly large forum is no easy task, we all complain, but stay. I just feel that if people are complaining so much, try and help out the forum instead of posting endlessly about it, dont spam in topics, obey the rules, People here are intelligent enough to realize the problems, but wont do anything about it.

What you said about Brett is slightly similar to woolfys situation, If Brett did do that and was aloud to stay as a good poster, that would mean the xgen rules were hypocrtical, woolfy was one of my favourite people here, always had some intresting yet witty to say. But got banned due to a technicality. We'll never know if he did do it, so lets not turn this into a woolfy thread.

Well, I just like using correct grammar most of the time because if you didn't, you wouldn't be using all of the knowledge you learned in your school. I can understand not capitalizing an I here and there, small typos, etc., but talking in like a completely different language of abbreviations doesn't really make me happy...
