View Full Version : Passing Out-ish Thing

Lately I've been having problems with this.

First of all, sometimes when I'm laying down for a while then stand up, I'll get dizzy and pretty much blinded for a couple seconds, then go back to normal. 2 times now I have actually passed out when this happens, and I really would love to know how to not have this happen, as just right now, I passed out at the top of the stairs, and fell down about 10 stairs.

I have no idea what is actually going on, but if this continues, I could get myself in serious trouble.

I've had the dizzy and slightly blinded for a couple of seconds thing happen before, usually after sitting up quickly after laying/sitting oddly for awhile. I'd suggest getting up slower, and not sitting/laying weirdly(if you are doing that). Now, passing out is not good, if this continues you should really see a doctor. Actually, I'd suggest seeing a doctor about this weather or not it continues, just to be sure.

and teenagers because of their large amounts of growth in a short period of time.

I think this could just be generally it. Hopefully this stops happening eventually.

Thanks.

What he said. Dude you should ask your parents to take you to the doctors or something... If it get's any worst you will have a blackout. Happened to someone before. Take my advice and get to someone ASAP. Have any more questions please feel free to post them.

You could be locking your knees a bit too much, restricting the blood flow in your legs/body, and in due course your brain, which results in the brief periods of fluttering consciousness..

but it's probably the orthostatic hypotension wiki link.

It's normal. I also get that when I'm in my dad's plane and he does a steep upward climb.

It's harmless. I get that so many times it's not funny. Worst case scenario, you'd run into something or fall off of something (personal experience).
Try not rushing upward from the seated position.

I get that, but it feels fun. And I wish I could catch it on camera because I can only imagine how funny it looks when I fall. Though I usually don't pass out. Just get wobbly in the legs and lose balance. And the vision thing. I can usually keep myself standing if I try, but it's so fun to not try.

I just get dizzy, and my vision get blurred. It normally happens when I lay down for a long period of time then get up quickly.

I'll bet it's hypoglycemia. My ex's brother had pretty much the same thing you're complaining of, except when he did it he pretty much got decked each time.

And I mean yeah, if it's happening because you're standing up too fast, you'll just have to change that :p
