I think the Electric 6 song "Gay Bar" was on ABS with a video.

not one video but two... one from rathergood with the viking kittens and other with george bush and tony blair... this second one is more funier, but harder to find, ¿what do u think of that song?

The Coral, The Black Keys, both modern and amazing bands, the Coral are british, the Black Keys are an American (I'm pretty sure anyways) bluesy duet, who rock.

King Crimson, the kings of prog and art rock... Desmond Dekker, the king of ska, The Byrds are pretty damn good...

Yeah, genre is just a convenient label production companies use to sell music (or books or tv shows or whatever). It's a convention that started in academia, came to mean something to the public and was then abused to meaninglessness (is that a word?) by advertisers.

8Stops7 and Me First and the Gimme Gimme's. Both are excellent bands, although I'll grant Me First and the Gimme Gimme's are more of a novelty band; they make punk rock covers of every song they can get their hands on. Some are REALLY good (Phantom of the Opera and One Tin Soldier come to mind).
