Select quotes:

Like a bush broom a so we sweep di feet inna di street

You you you you can move yuh foot how yuh waan it nuh hard fi yuh dweet

Mi see Ding and Tornado in di middle a di street

What do you guys think about this incredible artist? His words saturate my mind with such lyrical genius, it's as if he was painting a masterpiece with his words.

Dude, for real?

I'm kinda disappointed; like most things in life, I judged Elephant Man by the first thing I noticed about him. In this case, his name. I thought he sounded like he'd be pretty gnarly, so I clicked on the link with no delay. God was I disappointed. I can't hear anything that could be recognised asd positive sounds from that.

Several loud grunts/noises/chants: check

I'll admit, I like some dancehall, but this is just, well... He's talking about sweeping! With a broom! Odd, yes. Creative, yes (how many songs about brooms are there?), but it just doesn't work.

It's DANCEhall. Key word is "DANCE." Dance music is generally somewhat repetetive.

I really hope that you're joking. Lyrical genius? I read through his lyrics (http://www.urbanlyrics.com/lyrics/elephantman/sweep.html)and I'm pretty sure that he's retarded. It's acts like this that ruin hip hop.

The lyrics look like he's giving shout outs to various people in the beginning. It doesn't help that the idiot who transcribed the lyrics figured he'd be better served writing them with a Patois accent.

Giving it a second look, that first part is a series of shout outs.

By sweep he means the dance move that they do with their foot, literally sweeping it across the floor.

He's a beast on Def Jam: Fight For NY (a game that barely anyone here has played).

Anyway, I never really cared, because he's never on the radio.

So, why do you care?

Jamaicans. They speak a modified version of English.
