*Under construction* More information will be added at a later date.
If you're looking at this guide, I'm assuming you want to get better at this game, or you want to run the game. Therefore, I have written a quick guide giving you information you will need to get better/understand the game.
1. Getting the game to run:
To run the game, I suggest turning off any firewall that you may have running that could be blocking the game. The game is currently incompatible with Firefox. If this still does not work, try downgrading to IE 7 by using the link below:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/957700
2. The gameplay:
The goal of the game is to get as many frags as possible. There are 2 main factors that affect when you die and when someone else dies.
A. Health
Health can be regained by collecting health packs. The ones with a blue cross recover 25 and green cross pickups recover 50.
Health packs respawn after 20 seconds.
B. Armor
You start with 100 health and no armor. Armor will reduce the amount of health you will lose from attacks. Located throughout the map, there are armor shards that increase your armor. The smallest ones are the most common, and recover 5 armor. Medium sized ones recover 25 armor. The biggest one recovers 50 armor. Armor can go above 100, but it degenerates at a rate of 1 armor a second until you have 100 armor.
Armor respawns after 30 seconds.
3. Weapons
There is a multitude of weapons in the game that can give you an advantage other than your Machine pistol that you spawn with.
Weapons respawn after 1 or 2 seconds.
A. Stun Fist
This is a melee weapon to only be used in close range or when out of ammo. This weapon has infinite ammo (Press 1 to use).
B. Machine pistol:
Your starting weapon. Weak, but fairly accurate.
C. Shotgun:
The most devastating close-range weapon in the game. If every pellet hits your opponent, and the opponent has no armor, it's a 1 hit kill.
D. Rocket Launcher:
A very balanced weapon that can deal damage from almost any range. Can rocket jump to get to great heights. A direct hit on an enemy is a 1 hit kill if the opponent has no armor.
E. Electrode Gun:
This gun is very useful for medium range and can quickly drain enemy health. Can run out of ammo fairly quickly, however.
F. Beam Rifle:
This is a devastating long range weapon and can kill any opponent in 1 hit if they have no armor.
G. Plasma Carbine:
This is another balanced gun that is more useful in short range, but can also be used effectively at a distance.
4. Important strategies:
These are strategies that can be used effectively in the game.
Any strategy you have used in Quake 3 can effectively be used in this game, because the game runs on the Quake 3 engine (to my knowledge). This includes:
A. Rocket jumping.
Jumping and shooting a rocket at the ground at the same time to jump to great heights or to gain speed.
B. Strafe jumping:
A strategy that allows a player to move faster than normal running. By doing this, you can move to a gun faster or make yourself a more difficult target. This is a technique that is hard to get skilled at. A tutorial of this technique can be found below:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1g24fe4bwu0&feature=related
C. Switch the the weapon that will suit the situation best. This means not to use the shotgun at long range, or to not use the Beam Rifle at point-blank range.
D. Don't rush into into an area with a bunch of people in it. You will attract attention to yourself and get yourself shot. Try to sneak into the area and get the kills when everyone is weak or when all but 1 person died.
E. If you have low health, sometimes it's a better strategy to run, especially if you have good weapons. When you die, you lose all your weapons, other than your Machine Pistol.
F. You can often wait for kills by staying in one place and ambushing the enemy. This is known as "camping". Often in every FPS, it is a lot easier to kill an opponent when you are camping and the opponent runs into you.
5. Changing colors in your name:
In order to change colors in your name or when using chat, you will need to put ^(number here). Then type like normal.
These are the colors:
* 0: Black
* 1: Red
* 2: Green
* 3: Yellow
* 4: Blue
* 5: Cyan
* 6: Pink
* 7: White
* 8: Black
So,
^1HAHA^4:3
would become:
HAHA:3
^5I ^2Am ^71337
would become:
I Am 1337
6. Other:
You can view the scores by pressing TAB. If you are pointed at someone, it will show their name.
