I'm just curious to see what people think of that diddy in the background as we decaptitate our enemies on the planet Blarghast.
Personally, I'm a big fan of the Final Fantasy music and Chrono Trigger's music (I love Frog's theme). And who doesn't know the Mortal Kombat theme, LOL, I still remember the original commercial.

What?! Old school Mario rules! Who needs plot when you just run from one side of the screen to the other dodging enemies and jumping pits?

This thread is 3 years and some months old. Try not to bump old topics. I'm just trying to keep track of what new members are doing.

Did any of you ever play Dark Wizard for Sega CD? That game had an awesome, fully-orchestrated soundtrack. It's probably still my favorite even today, though Arcanum (http://www.terra-arcanum.com/sierra/media/media-soundtrack.html) comes close to topping it.

Xenosaga series has great music, mostly orchestrated. Then there's Devil May Cry music, best for when you're in the mood to torture demons. Final Fantasy X's and XII's music was great. Half Life 2's music was creepy at the right time.. lol

Video game music - overall I liked the mario songs, and Marble Zone from the original Sonic. Out of recent video-games, the Tony Hawk series has a killer sound-track, but those weren't made expecially for the game, so I dun think they really count...

I focus more on the composers, but the games do affect what I listen to. Konji Koda, the composer of Mario and Zelda music, is pretty good. Nobuo Uematsu, the composer for most of the FF series' music, varies a lot from classical to contemporary.
Overall, it is a good music type.

I loved the music from the chinese market in Deus Ex. Halo series has good music, so does Morrowind, Half Life 2, Vietcong, Hitman series ,and grand theft auto.
Also Zelda

Clinton, GTFO.
Ontopic: I don't pay attention to video game music much, unless it's a soundtrack from good bands.

I've recently come to the realization that nearly ANY video game music done with a full orchestra is just about better than most other kinids of video game music.
I say most because sometimes it just doesn't fit. In a sports game or in some kind of technological enviroment. Metroid Prime comes to mind.
But for nearly every other case, orchestral score > anyhtinig else.

The best video game music I have ever experienced is in Star Trek - Deep Space Nine: The Fallen. The music in ST: DS9:TF is not simply a track repeating over and over again, but it goes along with the action, and it really helps to set the mood for the game.
