So, it's completely inevitable. This question must be asked:

What's your favourite band?

My favourite band is Rush, out of Toronto, Canada. They have really complex songs, and the lyrics are really interesting.

Ohmygod, those are my three least favourite bands/singers in the history of the world.

N E Way, my fav band is Lemon Jelly, and my favourite song is Snakeblood by Leftfield.

The kind of music I am in to? Almost anything. Almost.

Electronic, dance, techno, jazz (ya gotta luv jazz), theatre, alternative, rap, baroque, minimalistic, chance, rock, punk....I even like Roman music (i.e. a sting of a single tone being played at different intervals...)

What I DON'T like is mainstream pop. Eminem, 50 cent, Big Brovas, Britney Spears, etc. all fit in here.

You see, the problem is that today, mainstream music is all mixed up. Now above I said that I hate Eminem, but don't mind rap. 'How can that be?' you may ask. Eminem raps, yes, but his songs are not normal rapping songs. Get Eminem's 'Without Me' and compare it to Puff Daddy's 'Come With Me', or Will Smith's 'Men In Black'.

Nowadays, it's all somewhere between Britney Spears style and Will Smith style, and that's why I hate it.

Another reason is that it is repetitive. So is dance music, so is techno, so is all music. However, dance music, techno and rap all use their repetition to create a cartain feeling or mood, while 50 cents just reapeats tha same notes over and over again. Also, dance and techno often have slight changes that occure throughout the song. When you listen to "In Da Club" by 50 cents, you just get that same base beat and clapping creating the rhythm throughout the whole song pretty much.

My final reason also covers artists like S Club 7, Britney Spears, etc. Almost every artist on video clip shows ([V], MTV, etc) are all trying to make a particular type of song. Bands like Blink 182 started out singing funny punk, which was a really weired mix at the time, and it eventually became popular because they stuck to it and only made the music that they wanted. I can almost guarantee you that (as long as you have basic music and composition skills), you will not make up a piece of pop music unless you try to.

How about Blindside or empty soul smile, I also like Cold and Deftones. When I fell like litening to classic rock it will be The Guess Who and, Three Dog Night. I also like most any punk cover song

My all time favourite band is Our Lady Peace (Clumsy has to be one of the best CDs ever made). I also really like Led Zeppelin, the Beatles, Offspring, Radiohead, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Green Day, Rage Against the Machine... *Diamond trails off into the never ending list of great rock bands*

What a collection of terrible bands. I don't have time to explain why I hate nearly every single band mentioned here. I will, however, say that Justin Sane, Against Me!, and The Distillers are tied for my favorite band right now.
