Though this might be a bit old, I'd like to inform the people who haven't heard.

Youtube now shows full length movies, as seen here:

http://www.youtube.com/movies

I now ask you all.

Whats the point of renting movies anymore?

Actully that's a dumb question, most of the movies so far aren't full 90 minute movies you would rent from blockbuster.
Though a couple are, such as Casino Royale (1967 version)

Your thoughts on this, if any?

Well, I like to watch movies with others so having everyone crowd around the computer isnt the same as being in my living room. I guess its nice if I am by myself, though I rarely watch movies by myself.

Most of the movies seem to be old and horrid. I haven't heard of most of them.

Why should I rent a good movie when I can watch one I don't care for! FOR FREE!

There are tons of websites to watch full length videos for free. Youtube showing ancient full length films is nothing compared to being able to watch just about any new movie 2 days after it's released in theaters on your computer.

This is silly. Most of those are pathetic excuses for a movie and their creation should have no excuse.

The service is still fairly new. IT'll take a while to catch on.

I think they're old because only MGM have so far sponsored them.

I was actually checking them out earlier, and I said, "Wow, these movies are old as ####!"

I then closed my window and came here.

I think it's a good idea, but once they bring more mainstream videos it will catch on.

I'd still rather rent a good movie.

when they get more recent films i'll watch...or not... stupid low resolution...a good thing too...so we wont see a crapload of zits while listening to some basement dweller's monologue on youtube.

They added high quality if you hadn't noticed.

The point, my friend, is for the special features, the extra bull crap you pay for when you rent the movie! If you just rent a movie to just watch the movie then you're wasting a lot of money. There's loads of extra features, easter eggs, etc. that they put in DVDs nowadays. Sure, maybe watching a maybe on YouTube can work when you don't feel like watching a movie in high quality but it works in a way.
