Just saw it talked about on TV and looked for an article.
I laughed, critical patch needed. Wonder how many people will actually be hijacked before the patch is out.

Uh, this is nothing new. This is so ordinary that it belongs in SL.
I very much doubt many people use IE on these forums, and the chance that one that does was affected by this is slim.

It was new to me and I was kind of hoping for some conversation beyond "lol ie sux dey desve et" which I would get in SL.
The fact that it can really be that easy for people to take advantage of these flaws and how fast they do it is pretty amazing. I'm sure many people here actually DO use IE and even if it warns only a few people I'm sure it's worth the thread.
Considering "legitimate operating" sites are also taking advantage of the exploit and how slow Microsoft is with patches a bit of warning may help.

Well... All it does is allow an XSS attack to take place. It could happen to anybody. In fact, using FireFox, I had it happen once. Fortunately, my Antivirus caught it.

What's an XSS attack?I believe that this might be what he's referring to. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cross-site_scripting#Exploit_scenarios)

yup, answered my question. Basically, a site has malicious code added by a hacker, and downloads the bad virus... Not good.

The only time I ever use IE is at school because the administration refuses to consider my proposal to install FF on all the computers.
Otherwise I use FireFox or Safari.

Good thing I use FireFox. I thought that many people already knew that IE had security problems. That's why I switched. Good thing they are patching it though, I hope people didn't loose too much.

Does it only effect you if you use IE, or if you have it all? Don't feel like researching.

Well they also found ways to use OutLook Express to convey the viruses too because it renders pages like IE.
Considering EVERY window's user HAS IE because it is built INTO the operating system. you have to use it, or a program that uses it to be affected.
