*Please note: This applies to the Xgenstudios FORUM ONLY. Games with chat components (Stick Arena, Territory Wars Online, etc) each have their own independent rules, moderation, and user management processes. Please check their respective rules and FAQs for more information*
POINTS AND INFRACTIONS
This forum uses a points-based system of Warnings and Infractions: four points and you're gone. There is also an appeal process for banned users.
Infraction (Red Card): Issued in response to a blatant or severe disregard of the rules. This results in the user getting issued one or more points and a red card on their file. Most infractions are worth one point, but particularly severe violations of the rules may result in infractions worth 2, 3, or 4 points.
Warning (Yellow Card): This is a rare, lower-level notice, issued due to a borderline error, usually from a new user. When this happens, the user will be issued a yellow card on their profile accompanied by a PM explaining what they did wrong. There are no immediate repercussion for this type of warning, it is simply a reminder to read and follow the forum rules. Yellow cards will not be issued for more serious infractions.
Moderators are not required to issue warnings before assigning infractions.
The total number of points your account accumulates carry the following penalties:
1 Point: No Penalty
2 Points: 1 Week Ban
3 Points: 1 Month Ban
4 Points: 1 Year Ban
Infractions and points issued are NOT permanent. Infractions expire 1 year after they are issued, and a user's points will decrease accordingly.
Appeals Process
If you have been banned and you wish to come back, you must make an appeal to the moderators. Appeals can ONLY be made on the grounds that the user disagrees with the moderator's decision. Requests for clemency or lenience will be ignored.
Contesting a Moderator's Decision: If you feel you have been unjustly banned, email a moderator/admin (list of emails below). In your email, you should explain you side of the story, in your own words, and explain why you think the moderator's decision was in error. The moderation team will investigate your claims and get back to you within a week or two.
Permanent Bans from before January 1, 2010: Any user who received a permanent ban for an infraction(s) before January 1, 2010 is allowed to appeal to return to the forums. Users who received 5 or more points are able to appeal on the grounds that their past actions do not merit a permanent ban under the current system. This does not include permanent bans which are still permanent (e.g., "account suicide" and creating Multiple Accounts).
The moderator/admin will then post your request in the Moderator's Lounge, and it will be reviewed and, if necessary, voted on. This process can take up to 2 weeks. If your appeal is accepted, the infraction(s) in question will be reversed and you will be let back on the forums. If your appeal is denied, you may revise your message and appeal again at a later date.
Make sure you take an adequate amount of time to carefully write your email. It will be posted verbatim for the other moderators to review. Well-written appeals (ie, those written with good spelling and grammar and a clear and concise argument) enjoy a much higher rate of success than those that contain ranting, poorly thought explanations, bad spelling, etc.
Note: Generally, unsuccessful appeals will go unanswered.
