View Full Version : Venting

I'm having one of those days, on a Sunday no less.

Everything just seems to agitate me, and get me more pissed off. I woke up later than I wanted to, found out the T-Mobile is reaching into my bank account and taking my money, no one is around to hang out... or maybe I just really don't want to hang out with anyone, and my mother absolutely has to call me from a ####ing football game so that neither one of us can hear each other... it's maddening.

Normally when I'm angry or depressed I take a drive to clear my head. Well, I was just about to clear my head when my mother called from the god damned coliseum to talk about god knows what. I had to stop at the beach, turn the car off and listen to Sublime for like an hour before I felt confident enough to drive back to base without running down every snot-nosed child I saw.

Now I'm back in my room trying to find a song to listen to that doesn't annoy the piss out of me.

So what do you do to vent? What clears your mind? How do you level back out? I'm freaking desperate. It's only 1:40pm, I don't want to spend the rest of my last day off in this funk.

I like to run or ride my bike when Im frusterated.
It gets me away from the situation and relaxes me.

I go for a walk.. often to the pub.
But yeah.. I had a day like that yesterday. But there was a Barry Manilow thing on PBS, and I watched that and it cheered me up quite a bit. Your mileage may vary.

Never drive when pissed off or not in a good mood, that is dangerous.

I take a walk, watch some Tv, or take a short bike ride.

Try to just take a nice walk.

Posh, when you figure it out let me know. Normally I try posting my problems online anonymously, but at this point it's like taking tylenol for a chopped off arm.

Just know that you aren't alone, and be happy you aren't right on the edge of snapping. My hands tremble as I type this.

Not to sound too Hippy here, but meditating (or something similar) has been helpful for me. It's an extra dose of "I'm awesome" because you get over anger by thinking about it (at least for me). It's not about suppressing anger though, it's about letting anger out and making it dissipate. Don't quell angry thoughts that pop up, just don't let it multiply and overwhelm you.

But if meditation isn't your thing or what I said made no sense, I used to repeatedly punch something hard until my fists bled. That or making deadsprints back and forth until fatigued. Extremely cold showers are nice too.

Oh, and another thing about driving while angry: you use up more gas. :X SAVE MONEY!

You shouldn't drive when emotionally distressed, so so the handbook says.
Me I go to the computer and blast some nice loud angry music into my head and stay away from others as to not take it out on them.

Masturbation is normally a good remedy for anything, except maybe a broken arm or friction burns or something. But it should do ya some good in this case. Otherwise, I like to sit back and listen to some Nick Cave or some Tom Waits music, they usually put me in a good mood, nothing to do with the subject matter which is often quite depressing.

I usually go skateboard garages when I'm feeling agitated. It's relaxing to feel the rush of the wind while zipping down a building at high speeds.

I always like to listen to "happy music" you might say. Even if I'm not stressed...

Im usually stressed because my school is an obamination. Seriously, what is it with Barack Obama and kids being total #######s? One girl refused to say the Pledge of Allegiance untill Barack Obama was elected president. ####ING MORONS! Their constant talking about Obama really pisses me off, so I like to listen to my happy music full blast. So I don't have to hear them agree on how great Obama is...

Anyways, I guess what I mean by happy music is just upbeat, some new stuff, lots of

I Know What I Know- Paul Simon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zDylRk1A7qQ) (only version of it I could find)
Cello Song-Nick Drake (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcFzCTO3WHE)
Sledgehammer-Peter Gabriel (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tNdMi-Vw2N0)
Amos Moses-Jerry Reed (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n7GyLr7Cz2g)
Foggy Mountain Breakdown-Earl Scruggs (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rrlqQ1_vZVE) (I couldn't find the original on youtube once again...
Don't You Evah-Spoon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPdP1jBfxzo) (This one I would recommend as my favorite de-stressing song...)
The Underdog-Spoon (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LenPKPqvdJA&feature=related)

Little Martha-The Allman Brothers Band (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KAbGhV-e15Y) (Ignore the slideshow, I couldn't find anoter video with the full, original version)

That's just a little taste at what I like to listen to when I'm stressed...

Well, there are an abundance of morons on both sides of this election.. at least your idiots aren't old enough to vote.

Today I went out to a creek.. that really helped when I first discovered it (I was stressed out, so I went exploring bicycle paths) and the first few times after that, but today it was a bit sunny and lots of people were out. Even so, it was nice.

I can tell you from experience that drinking and smoking will help in the immediate term, but you'll be much worse off even a few hours later.

I'll sit down and play/sing something really angsty just to get it out of me or shred until I get a bit calmer, then listen to some major-key reggae, ska, or pop-punk.

Do something that gets you away from everything-go somewhere, tell Mum not to call you. Bike rides are good, especially long ones-so are vacations. Doesn't have to be long.

Like Kerry, I try and have a nap, to have some time alone with myself. I usually listen to some music or the radio while trying to nod off.

I go for a walk or a run. Just not driving. I'm one of those people who shouldn't drive when they're upset.

I usually play a video game in which your character gains an incredablt amount of power and eventually can utterly crush all regular enemies. Then, since I've usually gotten my character to this point, I go medieval an those #####es. Being all powerful usually makes me feel better.

True. In retrospect I think it was the fact that everything was so petty and minuscule in comparison to everything else that was going on that made me even more agitated. I was pissed off for being pissed off on a Sunday, you know?

The good thing is that I didn't have to speak to anyone that day. I didnt run into any friends at the store, nobody called to say "What's up?"... I eventually calmed down and just took a walk.

I think I just need to get laid.

I listen to music to make me feel better. Also, I dunno if you're like me, but when I'm extremely mad or sad I tend to sit alone in a room and brood. Helps alot, then I waddle my ass over to the freezer and pull out a fudgeicle to make me a happy person again.

I don't vent, which is quite unhealthy, so I'm told...

If I really have something bugging me, I speak to a close friend of mine.

i know that his sounds stupid, but if you can, try driving on a low populated road with curves and drive 5-10 (or more, if your uber) mph over the speed limit (know the road first though).

It relaxes me, for sure, by focusing the concentration elsewhere. Just make sure that you have the skill to drive like this and that you don't hit a kid/mailbox/deer/aborted baby
