I've heard alot of opinions about Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Some good talk, bad talk, and just random talk. But what is your opinion on the game?

I love it. It's fun, ideal for playing with friends (although I'd say Mario Kart tops it in that respect). The online is iffy (translation: it doesn't work for me, not in the slightest bit), so it's probably not worth it if you already have Super Smash Brothers Melee, but it's definitely worth it if you don't.

And probably worth it if you do anyway >_> Considering the other junk that's out for the Wii, this is definitely one of the best games.

Eh, online works ok for me. It usually disconnects me after I've been playing for decent amount of time, so I just think to myself "Thats enough brawl for today."
Just like any game, it will get boring after a while. But usually after a few days or so, you'll be in the mood to play it again.

Both.
While they did a lot of things right, they did just as many wrong. It's like they were in first place in a race but tripped at the finish line, but they didn't just trip on the floor, no they fell on to a conveyor belt bringing them farther back than before.
For every good thing they added there's at least something else I dispise.

Makes me angry. >=[

Seconded. Elaborate on what you despise about smash brothers.

Apart from those floating Smash Balls. Those things are just unfair.

Wtf do you mean "examples?" One word should already be coming to mind...

Tripping.

There's other things, but I don't wanna get into it. Plus, even if this was a bad game,... it's nowhere near as bad as Sonic Shuffle.

Well, I'm the first person to vote for "never played it."

Thing I like: All of the de-cloning of the characters from what they were from Melee. To new players some chracters may seem very much like a clone, but they're a world of difference when compared to Melee and I luv that. Good move.

Thing I don't like: The entire crouching game from Melee is completely gone. This is mostly from an 'advanced player' point of view, so I wont go into much detail. Basically depending on the situation, crouching at the right time can save your life and piss off your opponent. Crouching also canceled your running annimation and because of it offered an offensive aproach as well.

Thing I like: Tethers go to the highest point posible automatically. As long as it can reach it, it'll go for it on it's own.

Thing I don't like: It will ONLY go for the edge!! That's bull!! That completely cripples 15% of the cast and kills many recovering oppertunities from other charcaters. Samus is a good example as of how it ruins a great recoving oppotunity. In the last game, tethers could be attach to any solid wall, and from there you can jump up to the edge. Samus had an amazing recovery because of this (and because of bomb jumping, that's only useful if you're over the edge). I was VERY angry when I realised tethers can only crab the edge and that's it.

Thing I like: Wall Cling, Crawling, Footstooling. Usefulness is pretty rare, but it's fun to do anyway. I like this.

Thing I don't like: You can only wall jump on the same wall once. More so is that if you just press the jump button (or pressing UP) near a wall you'll wall jump automatically, whether you wanted to or not. That's just annoying and you can't even remove that option in the controls.

There's a lot more things that I like and don't like, but if I keep going this will turn into a waaay too long a post and I don't feel like going through it all. Pfft.. I didn't even get to the puposely limited online and the random tripping. Good god it's best I just stop now.

you rarely ever trip, and if you do, then its because you're running around crazily!

im good with wal jump but it can seriously screw you up. Example: You're toon link and have gotten the smash orb, and the person you want to hit is falling to a wall, so you jump infront of the wall to use your move when you automatically wall jump.

One thing I dis-like is wario. His final smash is the worst thing to go against, nothing can hurt him, his motorcycle is faster tahn sonic, his jumping length is doubled (along with everything else) and it lasts longer that bowser's does!

Plus with bowser, in his final smash you can atleast deal some damage to him!

it's a great game. but its not really much of a improvement on melee. and you can only play it with the gamecube controller, its just **** with the wii remote/nunchuck

Hah, you're funny.
Running is so useful. Especially with 3 or more players. (Going ninja as Game and Watch with Guerilla Warfare.)

Motorcycle faster than sonic? Funny. Race Sonic and Wario on big blue. Sonic's smash lasts the longest, btw.

What about Yoshi? Doesnt his last as long, or even longer?
Also, da sparkly, you forgot to mention the classic controller.

Bwhahahahahah Sonic is one of the worst characters in the whole game.
He cant KO for ####

I've actually been quite frustrated by some Sonic players simply because he's #### difficult to hit on levels on which his speed is useful. And he's got some nifty attacks.

My personal favorite is Toon Link. I'd like to be able to play as Game and Watch, but somehow I never manage to really do much with him.

For Sonic, all of his attacks require him to be fairly close to you hit, with the exception of Down Smash and his Side Normal Attack. Just let him come to you, and he will because he has no choice. Then sheild his attacks and press 'A' to grab him out of your sheild. Then you beat the crap out of him. Don't go senseless chasing him though.

Toon Link's a really fun guy to play. His main weakness is that he's just so damn light wieght. Still, good character and he has the recovery of champions. Also make sure you abuse his arrows. People hate that. His Down Smash too, if you hit him from the front they'll be sent behind you for the second hit and it feels pretty damn satisfying.

I like Brawl. It is brilliant to play with friends.

My personal favorite is Mew-Two/Lucario, although I like Mew-Two a bit more. They have a great range attack, they descend slowly, their recovery is a teleport and that is EXTREMELY useful for getting out of tight situations, the range attack damages whatever opponent touches it when it is charging... But, above all, they have this attack for when you press A rapidly when close to an opponent, they will use teleconesis to raise the opponent off of the ground and repeatedly hit them. This is VERY difficult for the opponent to counter and to get out of and it causes MASSIVE damage if done correctly (I've caused 80% damage with one REALLY good combo).

You know, when people make posts like the one you just made, its kind of hard to understand what you're trying to say.

Then you must not be very good at playing competitively, cause getting all of the unlockables is purely a casual experience.

MonkehLawd

I disagree. Getting ALL the unlockables (trophies, stickers, etc.) is a hardcore experience. If all you count as "unlockables" are the characters and levels, then yeah, you're mostly right.

Boring after you unlock everything?
What the hell?
I think it makes the game way more fun when playing with friends or a cpu because you have more options.

Bonz0
10-25-2008, 02:16 PM
Yeah, I agree. I mean, usually if you invite a friend over to play Brawl, they want to play as a certain character they've heard about. If that character is locked, it probably wont be very fun for them.

This is like, the one of the only 2 games that I play on my wii. The other being Pokemon Battle Revolution.

I love it. Possibly the one game that my friends play/have played. It's also a funny thing to watch if you see your friends get killed by awkward hazard.

Edit: Also, did you know that the Wii does not have multimedia features, because it's a Videogame Console?

Who knew?

It was good.
But like Freddy said, it definetly has its pro's and cons.
What I hate about it most is that WiFi lags like hell. Even though it doesnt have as bad as lag as it used to, "play anyone" always has lag. ALWAYS. And it takes like 20 minutes just to find two people.
Then when you finally do you have to play a cpu as well D:< But its good since there's actually online play this time.

Thing is, I don't encourage this, but A LOT of people are actually considering staying with Brawl just for Hacks. (It's the same with me except I'm looking out for pro status...)

Hacks make the game much more fun.

1) As stated earlier, "TRIPPING OMFG!!111!". No tripping code ftfw. ^^
2) S-Canceling, the alternate to L-Canceling, cancels out ALL aerial lag. Meaning Ganondorf's Fair just got an ub3r-charge.
3) Wavedashing can be brought back. XD
4) There's a whole nother bunch of Brawl codes that make the game just FUN AS ****. Go to youtube and search them.

Hacking is very safe if you get the right codes, the only reason it would hurt yours is because you were stupid enough to use some whack codes.

With Anyone does not always take so long. Takes me 5 seconds to find people. With Anyone is never laggy for me. ^^

Don't say ALWAYS unless you have your proof. ^^ Even though WiFi is fail.

The only people who'll stay with Brawl for it's next years are the ones who want to keep playing competitively or just love the game. Others will sell or forget about it soon.

That's not really hacking, though, it's just like using the powerslide to get a constant boost in the Mariokart games.
CODE FTL
Anyways, I like SSB, but games always lose their appeal when you actually buy them. I just play at friends' houses.
Game and Watch FTW!

I too vote I never played it, but I have played the first version of it. I would say this game may have some different stuff and yeah you can design your own map right? So this game would be worth to play, guys.....or not?
