View Full Version : Spanish basketball team poses for offensive photo
Read the article and see the "offensive" photo Here (http://sports.yahoo.com/olympics/beijing/blog/fourth_place_medal/post/Spanish-basketball-team-poses-for-offensive-pict?urn=oly,100152).
Personally, I don't see the big deal in all of this. Sure, I understand why Chinese officials are mad, but it was a simple joke that spread a little far. What do you think Xgen?

Seems funny to me.

Funny and offending. They are clearly making fun of Chinese people, but that's what everyone does so....

I don't think any judgement should be made, because we don't know in what context the picture was used.
It's for an ad? Well, gee, that helps a whole ####ing lot. Now could we see this advertisement?
I will say, however, that the article writer was disgustingly biased.

... What exactly was the point of posing like that anyway? o.O

Well, the moral of the story is they beat China in basketball.
Boy, that's real hard to do.

It'd be like a team posing with little cardboard cutouts of the word ######. Sure, you might have meant "yo we beat you", but if that's not the message they get, it really doesn't matter.
[Oh, and pardon the offensive tongue, for you would-be reporters. -.-]

They are NOT happy people.

Actually, when it comes to their country, they are actually outwardly patriotic.

Really, they didn't even need a singer.

That's because the secret invisible chinapolice arrests anyone who doesn't sing. Man, you're so ignorant.
>_>
How is happy the same thing as outwardly patriotic and being proud that your nation is dominating the Olympics?

The US is in the lead. I really just checked we have more total medals then them so their gold medals dont match up to the US. Yeah for US! Did you get it?

I'll say this again.... Total medals mean nothing. "Yay, we're best at losing to two other people!"... So what?
If you're going to measure "victory" at the Olympics [way to miss the point], at least measure with the correct scale. Gold medals are used as the primary basis for winning; and Silver/Bronze only come into place if there is a tie for Golds.

The spanish team was not only highly inconsiderate of its chinese hosts but have also disregarded the lasting diplomatic complications between Spain and China. In one instant theyve insulted 1,321,851,888 people. if they didnt mean any offense then they were extremely stupid.

America just reports it like that. If America had more gold, and China had more total, they would still have the US in the lead.
