I should drink a lot of water, because I know it's healthy... but I don't like it. I usually mix it with like half a glass of orange juice or apple juice something. I'm kinda tired of just plain apple juice and orange juice. I really like the V8 Splash, with the fruit and vegetables in it, I think that may be a good drink? But it has to be something that is not bad for me, and that is healthy in large amounts since I will drink just that, and mix in water (And have a glass of water a few times a week). I used to buy the big cases of Diet Snapple and drink nothing but that... but I feel there must be something healthier out there.

You probably shouldn't drink juice all day long, as most of it is high in sugar. If you really want juice, I suppose you could find some other juices besides orange and apple. Just don't buy any garbage, and look for 100% fruit juice if you want to be healthy. For the most part though, you're going to want to drink more water than juice. And mixing juice in water? It probably tastes pretty diluted. If that's the only way you drink water/juice you might want to try and keep them separate. Not that there's anything wrong with that, just that I can't imagine it tasting that good.

Anything with 100% juice is a good bet. Anything with "diet" on the label is a bad bet. Look for natural things. Sure, juice can be a bit sugary, but it's miles better than soda.

It is better than soda, but the sugar content is ridiculously high. You'd be better off eating the actual fruit.

Why the beef with water? It's numero uno.

You can get flavored water. It is the same nutrition across the board as water but it has a tiny bit more sodium. The only downside is it is more expensive than normal bottled water.

Yeah, what's wrong with water? It's nice, I think so anyway.

Also, anything grapefruit flavoured is definitely worth drinking.

Most bottled water is tap water anyway.

Most bottled water is tap water anyway.

I regularly get into arguments with a friend over this. He insists on going to a local shop every 2-3 days to buy a few bottles of water. My first qualm is the horrible inefficiency.. Why doesn't he buy a little more than a few bottles at a time? Is he concerned that his desire for water will disappear, and does not want to risk overpurchasing? God knows.

My other qualm is that it is driven down from some bizarre county in northern Scotland on the back of a truck. 'What's wrong with the taps?' I say. He replies 'Are you kidding?? I'm not drinking the muck that comes from those taps!' 'But you must be personally responsible for vast amounts of pollution!' He doesn't really agree.

Personally, I can't even taste the difference.

I can. And I really honestly prefer the taste of tap water.

I've been drinking water and eating smaller portions and have lost around 5 pounds in 2 weeks. I'd stick with water, or you could buy a flavor extract, and add a little bit to your water. I bought some raspberry extract and add a couple of drops to it, makes it taste Deelish. Or mix raspberry and French vanilla, MMMM.

You don't like the taste of water?

Water has no taste; what are you smoking? Seriously, water is fine.

Bottled water: Just as good for you as water, not good for the planet.

I notice that cold, flowing water has a better "taste" to it.

That's not true. Depending on where you live, water tastes differently. For example: In Phoenix, where there isn't much of a water source, used water is extremely treated, and by many accounts, tastes awful. Over here in Eastern Nebraska, we have a large, flowing river that supplies us with water, and tastes fine.

Agreed, vitamin/flavored water is the way to go.

Fruit juices can rot your teeth a lot faster than soda can, because of a much higher sugar content. Soda, however, is worse for other things, such as your vocal chords.

One of the funny things I noticed while I was in New York was that the tap water there tasted like the bottled water here, and vice versa.

It's mostly just a matter of what ions are in the water. For example, I prefer Arrowhead bottled water, but can't stand Deja Blue or most other kinds of bottled waters. I just prefer certain ions in my water. (Beyond that, true distilled water is possibly the worst tasting water you can ever taste. It's not necessarily that it tastes bad... but it's so devoid of taste, it's bad. Not to mention it is unhealthy for your system.)

As a matter of personal preference, I try to drink tap whenever I can -- it tends to strengthen your immune system by exposing you to local bacteria, without being too contaminated due to standards (at least in most of the civilized world). I haven't had a full-blown sickness in years, only partial ones, probably due to my habits of exposing myself to bacteria, but not to dangerous levels.

In all seriousness, I hope you're not trying to claim that monster is in any way healthy.

Are you being serious? Monster is very healthy for you. Anyways, in all seriousness, steer away from the high sugary stuff. You don't even need to buy that expensive flavored water. Add a packet of splenda to your glass/bottle of water. It tastes fantastic.

I would just stick with water...

Speaking of which, is it bad if your tap water tastes like a fork?

You mean metallic? That's not unusual.

Recent tests here have shown that several (read: most) regions in Germany have dangerously high levels of uranium in tap water. That was slightly unsettling.

Speaking of which, is it bad if your tap water tastes like a fork?

Not directly bad, but you may want to look into some sort of filter for your water that you can place on the tap. If you can actually taste the metals in your water, that may be a bit unhealthy in the long run, especially if there are heavy metals in the water (I always laugh when referring to heavy metallic elements in such a manner >_<).
