I am a person who is very skinny who does not eat a lot. I am at an age of 14 and I get heartburn a lot of the time

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to keep it from happening or does anyone think that there is a problem with my digestive system.

You sir may have acid reflux disease. You need to ask your doctor about treatment and such.

Maybe you should drink milk more often. Since milk is Basic, it helps (not too much though) to even out the Hydrochloric acid in your stomach. Also, any milk of magnesia would help too. It tastes chalky, but it works pretty good. What I am trying to say is there are some remedies that you can use for to relieve you from symptoms, but you should seriously consider bringing this up with your doctor.

Don't drink/eat stuff containing a lot of acid. Purchase orange juice with low, or no acid, and stay away from spicy food etc.

So go to the doctors office and ask him.

We are not your google service, and we are not physicians.

AR, that was kind of uncalled for. I didn't want to waste money on a doctor's visit if it wasn't needed

You might have a weak muscle in your digestive system, I have that and I get heartburn all the time.

Also, I don't know if it exists in the US, but here we have a medicine called Gaviscon - which you don't need a prescription for - and it works quite well. The liquid version works quicker, according to my GP.

Read before you post (http://forums.xgenstudios.com/showthread.php?t=86785).

Most notably,

Q: Miscellaneous medical problems.

A: Remember, we're not doctors here at Xgen. While we might understand a few basics about sugar and adrenaline, we cannot assist you in any serious medical conditions. Go to your doctor if you fear something is wrong.

Heartburn isn't a serious medical condition

Acid reflux is, and that may be what you have. Again, learn to use google (http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=heartburn&btnG=Google+Search) and webmd (http://www.webmd.com/search/search_results/default.aspx?query=heartburn&sourceType=undefined) for things like this - not the XGen Advice forum.

Seriously, if more than one of us think you may have Acid Reflux, you should more than definitely consulf your physician. A.R. (reflux, not the guy I just quoted) destroys the lining in your esaphogus and can lead to other problems in the future. You need to get this checked out ASAP or your health will deteriorate.
