It looks like the world decided to nuke the US.

This is really awesome, if you want to read the article on it here it is:

Really, it shows you the population density of America pretty well too.
Discuss how Wal-Mart is evil and stuff now. =]

Yea I always hated Walmart that was a cool representation on how they are taking over the country. They are just a giant in the market now, destroying all the small businesses that have good character and etc. I feel sorry for those who lose their business

Yeah, it taking away the dream of others to own a business pisses me off too.
I suggest moving somewhere around Nevada, Montana, and Colorado. They are less populated with wal-marts, haha.

Walmart. Destroying the US economy, but look! Cheap stuff made by kids in foreign countries!
I went there once, and it smelled weird...

Walmarting across America.
Not as bad as it sounded at first (they WERE independent and did it of their own volition, they just got sponsored afterwards), but it was still being dishonest when there wasn't really much to gain. I lol at the poor sap(s) that made that deal.

I wonder why the Rocky mountain states have almost none in the entire state? Anyone know?

Less population.
As I stated already this map shows the population density well in America.

We all know Wal-Mart is an iconic symbol for "Where you go to work if you don't get through high school" and "Cheap labour in China!"
Why complain if it provides incentive for Americans to finish high school and for Chinese people to study?
>_>
<_<
Okay, I enjoy cheap prices. Sue me--on second thought, please don't.
Does anyone find it ironic that many Midwesterners are appalled at their jobs being shipped to China, and yet they shop at Wal-Mart?

Have you noticed there's a unique smell for certain major stores? I mean, I can label things "that Best Buy smell" or "that Frys smell". I swear, it's a way to get you to remember what store you're in, and to help your mind tag product so-and-so with the shop with scent so-and-so.
Scented carpets, perhaps?

Well, maybe it benefits China a little. (http://www.wal-martchina.com/english/index.htm)

A lot of stores will usually put certain smells into the air to try to influence you. For example, you're in a super market, you walk by the meat aisle and smell the slightest scent of spare ribs in BBQ-Sauce. You know what you're going to be buying, right?
Although I can't imagine what Best Buy could use to influence their customers. I suppose it's just the collective smell of all the stuff they sell there.

Wal...mart?
That thing leads me to believe it's some sort of plague.
I guess this could sort of be compared to Tesco here, only not quite so bad.
Walmart is one of those mega stores that slowly replaces all the local stores and lures everyone in with "everyday low prices"
I tell you to watch the south park episode of it.

My grandpa has a book entitled "How walmart destroys America (and Also the World)"
He has good reason to hate though, as our family owns a local grocery store.
And yes, I also dislike walmart.
And I do realize I love enter a bit too much.

Go small businesses! I might shop there, but I don't live in Ohio.
The smell I noticed at Walmart was a bad smell, unlike BBQ.

All the Wal-Marts in Ottawa have Pakistani people working there part time.
Like, I'll be walking in the Wal-Mart, and say "Oh, ####, this isn't Wal-Mart, it's the Pakistani embassy!"

Sooo...Uhhh...Just wondering where Alaska's Walmarts are on that chart. What, we're not important enough to have our Walmarts shown? I wonder how many others were left out. I think the counter stopped at 3176 when there are in fact more like 3400 walmarts across America. *sigh* I don't know why I care.

There's only 2 xD, a local chain.
One in North Kingsville, Ohio and one in the town next to it (Conneaut).

It's not taking away anyone's dreams at all, but you definitely can't compete with their way of doing retail business. You put up 3 general grocery outlets, Wal-Mart comes along, guess what? Those 3 stores are done for. We can call Wal-Mart "evil" and talk about how corrupt they might be, but their "evil" is making tons for them and keeping the starving workers in China that manufacture those goods fed on a daily basis, so that's about 3+ people and their opinions versus that of a billion dollar corporation. Not a fair battle.
Sure, if you enjoy guns, beer, and desert. The Rocky Mountain region has always been the least populated (Wyoming's population is a little less than half of that of Dallas, Texas), so not much to expect in the way of retail stores, seeing as you would have to drive quite a bit through rugged terrain and long roads to get to the nearest.

Of course they don't have to be happy or like doing it. It's slave or die for many Chinese there in the sweatshops.
For us? It's work or government aid or slow death. That's a pretty easy decision for me....lemme go file for unemployment and SS (while it lasts) real quick. BRB!

The only thing you should give credit to Walmart is their business savvy. The guys behind it must either be lucky, or they know what they are doing, and I think it is the last one. Sure, they are evil, and I won't ever buy anything from there, but kudos them, non the less.

China doesn't have a deluxe welfare system like the United States, where some people refuse to do manual labor and just live off the tax payments of others while letting illegal immigrants cut the lawns or chop the meat.
Stupidjr
07-14-2008, 11:29 AM
I wouldn't say that the U.S. has a 'deluxe' welfare system. Better then some. As for china, they are industrializing, and money is pouring in. Yes, it goes right back out for oil, but they still have it, and should be made responsiable for the people in sweatshops that walmart employs.

a good welfare system isnt always a good thing. I see homeless bumpkins purchasing booze or dope with hardearned american tax dollars, or prostitutes getting plenty of cash and at the same time making heaps prostituting. And prostitution can't be taxed can it?

I don't see how you can give someone credit for exploiting other countries and people living there. I think a few people here need to look up the negative effects of globalisation.
And a welfare systems only works as long as it's purpose is to help people find new jobs (or support them if they're incapable of working). The ability to simply mooch off of welfare dollars despite good health is what breaks the system.

Whoa Whoa Whoa. I am not saying I condone their business practices, but lets face it, if it were a company that sold cheap insulin to everybody, and expanded their company so fast, they would be hailed as savors of the free world. If it should be applied to one company that has done it, every company that has done it should get it as well.
Also, I hate globalization. The only good thing I get out of it is that I can share my opinion with other people, and have intellectual debates.
Lastly, I agree with you about the welfare system, it is being abused, and the money that is wasted is a huge amount.

And isn't that beautiful, Billionaire?
I must say though...
A couple of my friends were talking about something... something ingenious.
You know how many Americans play World of Warcraft?
What if... what if there was a American World of Warcraft unison...
And what if we told each of those nerds that we would give them a full set of -Place Good Armor Here, Customized for Each Person.-, if they held a RAID of the nearest Walmart?
I did not come up with this, but, I do not say it for fear for reprisal.
I think it's freaking hilarious.
I mean... think about it. The sheer numbers of World of Warcraft players would DWARF the local law enforcement, making retaliation very taxing on the goverment...
And we all know the US Government and money.
We could DESTROY WALMART USING AMERICA'S CAPTIOL...
NERDS.
I think it's bloody brilliant.
But that may be just me.
Feel free to tweak and change his idea. xD
