View Full Version : What if everything...
What if everything you did, no matter how small from thinking to breathing greatly effected everything in the world in a huge ripple effect?
What if everything you did no matter how big just like before had NO effect what so ever on anything at all?
What if half he time it had huge effects and half the time it had no effect at all?
Which would you prefer?
Which would be worse?
Which would be best?
Just thought I'd spark some discussion.

What if there was no such thing as hypothetical questions?
Well, it's hard to know, it's kinda like would you rather live your life in pain or live a numb, neutral existence.
It all depends on what way it effects everything, ya know would my breathing cause 200 people to die, or just create a strong wind?
Anyway, I guess I'd have to go for the massive impact. I've always wanted to leave my mark on the world.

While the topic is in the vicinity of pseudo-intellectualism, what is your opinion of The Secret? How about the movie The Butterfly Effect. The latter evoked a lot of backthought and tremulous intercision in my vestigial lobe cortex. The former, not so much. Although I do believe its alterior motive justifies the legitimacy of said book. They ventured to make a book full of bull#### in hopes to get money, and they got money. The bull#### works!

No you're not. You're just thinking about breathing actively while you breathe automatically.

But perhaps he is actively thinking about breathing actively while he breathes automatically while he automatically thinks about breathing manually while automatically breathes!
I'd almost perfer that I had no impact no matter what I did. I could then do whatever I wished without having any consequences. Although the major effects version can the potential to be more exciting, it might make huge things happen that you don't know are because of you and you think of them as normal. The half and half version would be scary as ####, never knowing what will happen, whether everything will be fine or something terrible will happen.
I don't believe in "the secret" (I just lost the game) at all. There is no mystical force giving the stuff to them, it pretty much just tells you to have blind faith and to be patient and you'll get what you want. There really is no facts behind it, the movie just repeated the same stuff over and over and didn't prove anything. They shot out some crazy ideas and then quickly past by them and never explained how it could really be possible. Your brain does not really send out signals depending on moods.
I actually haven't seen the butterfly effect.

Just manually thinking about that makes me breathe!

But Matt if you're free to do things without consequence what's the fun? What's the fun of having sex if neither of you feel anything? Or the fun of having a girlfriend if neither of you feel anything towards each other? The fun of a joke if no-one laughs?
It sure would take the sting out of life.
Just manually thinking about that makes me breathe!
Yeah, I had to read the manual on manual breathing. It wasn't so hard once Emmanuel helped me. His manual dexterity helped me through the manual task of reading such a manual. I, of course, manually paid him for this manual labour and then proceeded to play music, straight from the manual.
Ah I never thought of that, but then again you could go kill anyone you wanted and nothing would happen.
Although if nothing happened when you moved... you wouldn't be able to do much. If you pulled the trigger and nothing happened... I don't think you could live if none of your actions did anything.

You wouldn't do any of that because there is no fun.
EDIT: You could not just kill people, you could kill yourself!

What if everything done by you was insignificant?
Because that's the way reality actually is. If everything everybody did was significant, we'd have 6 billion people doing significant things all the time.

And that is what we call a "pipe dream".

If that happened whenever someone breaks down and screams: "Leave me Alone!" then the world would explode. However the idea of emotions or actions affecting the whole world is explored in Scifi and can be found in the Warhammer universe.
