I want to get World of Warcraft, but my folks wont let me cause its rated T for drugs and alcohol, "suggestive themes", blood and gore, violence, and language...... did I miss anything?

So they arent too strict about the blood & gore and violence, but the other stuff..... is there anyway to get it a little more OK to my parents? or if you could tell me why its rated T for those things. Like a dude drinking a beer would be ok.... or a "d***" in text or audible occasionaly...

So please give me any info you have about this.

PS: is there a censor? and if so, how strong is it?

If your parents are wary about a "T" rated game, then I doubt they'll let you play once they discover what other players do. As far as the T-rating goes, that's typical for a medieval RPG. Alcohol use refers to drinking beers from mugs, blood and gore are fairly obvious, sugestive themes probably refers to people running around in their undergarments, and the language, as far as NPC's go, is mild, such as damn, ass, or hell. There is a word filter, but it can't block 100% of the bad language.

Most of the objectionable content would come from players themselves, as they are real people. Harassment from other players is common, and since your parents feel that you aren't quite mature enough to handle a "T" rated game, they probably won't feel you're ready to respond maturely in those situations. If you really want to convince them to let you play, I suggest explaining to them that the audible cursing is minimal and can be muted in the options and that most of the alcohol use is just beer in a medieval fantasy tavern.

If you can't get a "T" game, you must be about 8 years old and shouldn't be on the internet.

At all.

Get off.

Perhaps he's allowed to play T games in general, it's just the things which gave the game the T rating that his parents find objectionable?

I've never been to a "RP" server in WoW, as I didn't play for very long, but I'd have to guess that the inappropiate content from other players would be a little less in that kind of server.

You're welcome.

You should be allowed to play it at your age.
