That's awesome, Skye!

Sorry, mix up in time.*

Why did you guys choose the new art style? It looks mighty awesome.

Thanks man. At first it was kind of a joke; we were sort of laughing about how it would be funny if the game was held together with string and tape... we were talking about dangling clouds from strings and stuff like that. But I think we pretty quickly realized that it might actually be a pretty good idea in terms of art direction. I threw together a quick concept and we went from there.

Actually, I answered pretty much the same question from Nintendo Power. I went more in-depth with the creative process there, but I'm not sure how much of my answer they'll actually print. Should be interesting to see what they write.

And yeah, thanks again! I'm glad people like it. Response to the screenshots has been very positive and I'm really stoked that people are excited about my work.

I love how the Health bar says "helth."

Also, this question had arisen in the DYC - WiiWare forum; Is it possible to play online with other players in it?

Here's an excerpt from the upcoming Nintendo Power Interview:

The game now supports up to four players—how does the multiplayer work, and is it playable online?

Despite the lack of online support, the Multiplayer in Defend your Castle is my favorite feature. The cooperative jump-in/jump-out style, the competitive elements, and dynamic difficulty adjustment all make the game a lot of fun to play with pals. If you're playing DyC by yourself while waiting for a few friends to show up, for example, anyone can pick up a Wii Remote as they arrive and start playing. If you have to answer the door, put your Wii Remote down; the game will detect one less player and automatically adjust.

We've also introduced a new competitive element to multiplayer called "King of the Castle". If you have the highest score at the end of the round, you'll be crowned King and bestowed the privilege of upgrading the castle, casting spells, and training units. Rule wisely, though, for your comrades seek to overthrow you from your lofty throne!

That means my dreams of playing with you got crushed. =P

Ah well, that "King of the Castle" looks to be a ton of fun. This game is going to make me stay up for days.

Yeah, the multiplayer is stupidly fun. I like screwing over the other players so I get to be king, hahaha. Eventually they gang up on me though, so I can only play like that for so long. When you get to the later levels where the guys are basically running at your castle in waves it's just ridiculous. And the game is surprisingly addicting too. I'll start play-testing this game thinking that I'll just try it for a few minutes to see how certain features work and then the next thing I know a few hours have gone by, haha. Whoops.

Uhh...welcome to the team zee?

I've never seen you about before, I assume you're the new art guy? Nice work.

Well, I'm new-ISH. I did a lot of the graphics for Pillage the Village, including all of the characters. Also, I did the voices and animation for the hands in the intro. So you've probably seen/heard me before.

I guess I've been working here for almost a year and a half now... but I generally just don't say alot on the forums here which is why you've never heard of me. I tend to stick to just making the graphics and let the other dudes handle all the fame and fortune.

Nice art. Some of it looks a bit rough and unfinished, but the trailer was a bit hectic, so who knows how the end product'll look. Is it coincidence that the heads of the big things look like the Pepsi logo? That's the type of product placement that can ruin a game, if it is :-/

If not, then it's an unlucky coincidence.

And because I don't think I ever got an answer in the last thread, what's the deal on international releases? Will this be available world wide? Only in North America? Is this all on one centralized WiiWare network, or will there have to be a seperate release for Europe? Is this all dependent on how WiiWare itself works? Because we're getting virtually no information over here on the topic (at least as far as I've seen and read around). So in short, can I play this, living in Germany and all? >_>

And yeah, will there be a demo?

I know, this is probably all in some interview in this and that magazine/website. A link to a website will do me just fine.

I imagine it being quite difficult, seeing how it's being developed for the Wii >_>

Whoa, hey there, Zee. Forgot you existed!

*adds to the list of art compliments*

The style fits perfectly with the Wii, I'd say. I'm looking forward to it a lot... hopefully I'll be able to actually find a Wii by the time its released.

Man, my work and hobbies are intersecting in weird ways now. I work for Gamestop... which produces Game Informer... which will be covering DYC... made by XGen Studios... whose forums I moderate. The cycle continues!

Sorry for the double post, but it doesn't seem that anyone else is going to post, and I have a question.

Will the game take advantage of any sort of Downloadable Content?

denacioust
03-28-2008, 05:07 AM
Well...isn't the whole game downloadable content?

game-bot
03-28-2008, 07:34 AM
...well, yeah. But some wiiware games will have DLC in the future; extra content, not the game itself.

XGEN-CRaZeD
03-28-2008, 01:29 PM
It could be possible to fix any bugs, but I think they are going to put in as much content as possible and leave it at that.
