I've been playing guitar for around on and off for a year (if you want the best estimate, I would say around 7 months), and have really been getting into it. Some examples of songs I could play are dani california, snow (hey oh), stairway to heaven, and little parts of many other songs. However, I don't have a band yet, and guitars come easily from my dad's side, so I'm wondering if his song writing abilities will also come easy for me. I plan on writing rock and a little blues for the most part.
What are your best tips for writing some lyrics?

Write horrible lyrics, use Auto-Tune to catch up.
Music is the hardest part, just try some cool power chords for that extra "pop" edge.
Use four parts for percussion, claps, kicks, snares, and hats. That's it. (Sampled drums of course).
Use lots of synth. Everybody loves distorted synth. Lots of whooshes, pops, fuzzes.
Try this for an example:
