Umm... I believe you just copy and paste, and if you mean your signature go to user CP then click edit signature.

Find a GIF file or make one.
Upload to say, imageshack.
Copy the url and paste it between tags in your sig.

but when i try to upload one and its under the specifed bytes it keeps on saying invalid file

thats when i try to upload on xgens

If you even bothered to look around, you would notice that no regular members are allowed to have animated avatars, except for those who had their animated avatars before the rule was put into effect. Moderators and Administrators are allowed to have them at any time.

Dont use imageshack if your wanting a picture you dont wanna click on.Just use
www.photobucket.com and see if that works.
