The song is about some kid, named Jeremy I'd assume, who took a gun to school and shot himself or somthing.
when was the video banned? Seems kinda stupid, considering he probably got a hero's treatment on the news.

The song was about a kid who's parents never payed attention to him, and he got picked on nonstop. So one day he finally snapped, and killed his peers, then himself. The video was banned because it "promoted suicide". I think it was stupid to ban it because it's just another version of censorship which is slowly taking over everything. It's too bad grunge faded out, I enjoyed Pearl Jam's older stuff.
