Okay, first of all, I understand what the Bohr effect is. However there's this nonsense article filled with gibberish that I can't make sense out of that the Biochem class has been assigned to read. It's from 1994, so I'm hoping that someone here (chejrw ;P) might have read it.
Title: Chloride Ion Independence of the Bohr Effect in a Mutant Human Hemoglobin beta(V1M+H2deleted)*
By: Clara Fronticelli, Igor Pechik, William S. Brinigar, Janusz Kowalczyk, and Gary L. Gilliland.
Anyway, if you've happened to have read it, can you give me the gist of what happened? I've got the article in front of me and I've been trying at it, but I was hoping you could throw me a bit of insight in on what these guys actually did. Assignment is to summarize and discuss. Because all I'm getting right now from it is the scientific equivalent of 'lol wut?'
I think i'm going to die in this class XD
