View Full Version : You can Really Tell...

This game was rushed... Alot. There are tons of flaws and bugs everywhere, like the MAJOR trapdoor bug that won't let you finish the round. Also, if you buy things from the shop, they won't get saved if you quit before the next save (You have to beat the next round, which is stupid.) The instructions animation doesn't play all the way through, even WITHOUT touching any of they keys or mouse button. There are numerous more bugs.

Also, Jacob has already said that things were cut because they had to release it on time.

What is with XGen and promising early release dates? Why did you promise it to come out in August, and then sacrifice game quality to make a bunch of whiney impatient noobs happy? You can tell how the game was rushed, it definately shows.

Is there any specific reason that it absolutely HAD to come out in August? Why do you even give release dates in the first place? Instead, give updates on how the game is going (Like Jacob did, in the PTV Updates thread, but with more than one update). But never promise a specific time, just say, "We are finishing up the game", or, "We are testing the game now". Don't promise release dates in the trailor, either.

Well, I'm guessing now there will be a patch out sometime to fix all of these bugs...

Wow, the credits cut off too, just like the instructions.

If Danny was on QA, what in the world was he doing!?

Not to mention that Skye implied that work had begun in 2004 because that is when Keith Peters released his IK Code. Complete bull####.

Okay, but seriously, how early for a release schedule does it have to be for a spell named "My Little PWNy."

That is inexcusable.

I notified them of that bug about a week ago.

And QA means "he plays the game an unhealthy amount"

It's a joke, you idiot.

He never said it was it crap. He said the game was rushed. I agree that it does seem rushed. I would've felt better if they made us wait longer so they could fix the glitches.

They've stated that most of the bugs they've been unable to reproduce. That said, they can't fix it if they don't know why it's happening.

Most (if not all) of the bugs have been reproduced at least once.

Well you must remember it is version one, alot of games start off this way and they just mae it better as time passes, for now I think the game rocks, yes there are a few glitches but they will get them fixed soon enough.

I am quite displeased with the game myself. The pausing-when-you-go-out-of-the-limited-field-that-isn't-even-outside-of-the-flash-game-itself angers me to no end.

By us, yes. But not by the developpers.

So unless the developers can reproduce these bugs..(in code) then it can't be sloved..?

But I'm sure then can reproduce them..

Justin

They claim otherwise.

Unless they can reproduce the bug, they don't know what the problem really is, and so can't fix it.

Wow...

I'm betting anything that they'll take down the game until its fixed..

Why? You can play the first 30-some levels, and they are getting traffic and ad revenue.

Kero

If they were going to take the game down due to any bugs they wouldn't have put it out tonight in the first place.

The game wasnt rushed in the least, thats a pretty ignorant statement in fact.

The trap door bug was known but unreproducible. Therefore it was decided to make some adjustment and release the code with preparation for a patch if the new code didnt work and the bug reared its ugly head. We felt it was justifiable, and if you have any experience in the game industry, you would understand.

Regarding cut items, all games have cut items. To think that a game is rushed simply because it has cut items, well is extremely silly. In fact, PtV has a large amount of added items compared to what was cut. Thats the way game development works.

Of course, it unavoidable that people will find something to whine about. *shrug*. Its impossible to please all of you.

I'm not sure what you're implying, but that name was chosen a long time ago. I dont see how its "inexcusable".

Okay, I understand. I was wrong. But still, what's with calling everyone ignorant? Not everyone here is a game developer for XGen y'know. Calling us (me) ignorant does not help get your point across :P

Thank you jonanin. That's the word I was looking for, rushed.

There are a bunch of bugs, like coins disappearring behind huts and your mouse cursor not being able to go to where everything is, staying far back.

skye
08-22-2007, 10:34 AM
'Coins disappearing behind huts' is not a bug, it is a design choice. The player is forced to let those coins go, or disturb a potentially untouched hut and initialize an additional stream of villagers which require his or her attention.

Sperry
08-22-2007, 10:46 AM
Personally, I'm greedy, and am willing to move the hut to get the coins. It's annoying; yes, but it complicates the game. The coins fall where the villager dies - not conveniently into your pocket book.

skye
08-22-2007, 10:58 AM
Fair; I'm willing to argue the merits of the mechanic.

Kero

I found the coins going behind the huts a great idea. Forcing the player to risk losing if they REALLY want the coins that bad. Or learn to aim better ;)

ya even world of warcraft had cuts, there was sopposed to be a goblin race, but was there any? no, it was cut

The My Little PWNy statement was a sarcastic comment about people dissing the game...

They point out the negative two or three things instead of giving a positive statement that it is actually a good game!

Not that my opinion matters, but Perfect Dark Zero seemed far more rushed than PtV. They were ridding on the 360 release schedual... but still. PtV seems like its at least complete. They accomplished what they wanted to. Furthermore, with a flash game of this calibur, you didn't expect glitches?

to true so now i will say Dora the Explorer is the best thing to come out since TV's were invented.

This game was rushed... Alot

so what if it was or wasn't rushed the stuff that was skipped can be put back in a patch. The game itself is whats inportant the rest is just extra features i mean would the game be much different from DYC if there was styringe spell and gauntlet spell with only the basic villigers and no objects and villigers started all around the middle who would give a **** that happend then in a week or two they would release houses trap doors parachuters... i mean i know a game that is working on a similar basis called mount and blade still in beta and yet they're selling it raising the price whith each version, and another game doing eaclty what im saying is a free game called cortex command which started with buy guy, and weapons, and tools send in on rocket dig for gold, and destroy enemy brain, and gaurd own brain just like that using pre made maps and bunkers. month or so after they released it ":DMake your own bunker!!!:D" and all sorts of other tid bits and there are hundreds of mods for it. They started with the basic code and neccesities and it's growing well so if you think a game was rushed then unles the game engine was inomplete like being able to pick up a gun but not fire it but have a key assigned to shooting then maybe it was rushed or maybe they think that will come later.
(my second massive post against whiny PTV complainers. so just learn to think of a game engine as the real game the rest is just extra features.)

I'm sure nothing that was cut from the game was strictly due to time contraints.
