Jak 2: Run and gun, a lot of driving (more than take this one of a kind vehicle from Point A to Point B), Racing.

Pillage the Village looks amazing! This argument doesn't even make any sense... Its a completely different game. If it was called DYC2 then you could make this argument but its just a continuation of the story with different gameplay. A better Jak analogie would be Jak3 and then Jax X Racing which continued the story line with a racing game.

It's called Pillage the Village because you're the one attacking. Defend your Castle was about defending.

It's more of a spiritual prequel than a true sequel.

This also raises the question of the validity of lumping two games into a genre because they are 'Defense' games; Although Defend your Castle inspired a slew of clones, Desktop Tower Defence is truly a different gameplay mechanic (Although also a clone; the Tower Defense mechanic was pioneered at Blizzard). There are 103 Defense Games listed on NG; Although many were inspired by DyC, or clones of DyC, only a few share the throw mechanic that DyC has (And none really get it right, IMO).

Well, you aren't defending a castle from them. If you are defending the mouse, then the game fits into more than one genre, kinda like some Fighting RPG games. I can't think of an example, but the point is, it fits in its genre/genres.

:cool: Ok Dood all you must know is that any game that is second to the previous, it could be from anykind such as prequel or simply a new episode will be upgraded with new things that are cooler to insit people playing it. Plus, the Xgenstudios crew just added things that were nice into defend your castle to create a new story that would be even better than the first one.

It would have been a waste of work if the crew had just made the exact same thing as dyc, they would just have created an update, they're not stupid.
